The Screen Actors Guild, founded in 1933, is a trade union representing over 200,000 actors. The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards are unique because they are voted for by actors who are members of the Guild – essentially, winners are voted for and chosen by their peers. Unlike any other awards ceremony, the SAG awards only have categories for acting. In short, it is a tremendous honor for an actor to be recognized.
In addition to the outstanding performances being acknowledged, the red carpet fashion and beauty scene was captivating and worth watching. I would say that the theme of the 17th annual SAG awards was a soft combination of natural yet defined beauty in flowing couture.
Hillary Swank, Julia Bowen, Kyra Sedgwick, and Mariska Hargitay were just a few of Hollywood’s leading ladies who paired a glamorous evening gown with soft and elegant hair and make-up. All of them wore their hair down, styled and full of body, along with natural face make-up – defined eyes, brows and a nude lip. Some of the younger ladies, Lea Michelle, Rosario Dawson, and Sofia Vergara were among the red carpet glitz that followed suit in wearing minimal yet flawless makeup with loose and natural hair. Even Betty White’s make-up was all about the brows as they were perfectly shaped & filled in to complement her beautiful face and youthful persona.
January Jones, Claire Danes and Mila Kunis were my top 3 favorite overall looks. Their dresses were so vibrant, detailed, elegant and fit their bodies to a “T.” They too went with sheer make-up – soft, yet sultry eyes and defined brows.
To get Mila Kunis’s look: Begin with a soft and even foundation application. Using the #210 Angle Liner Brush and a blend of Taupe and Espresso Eye Color, define those eyebrows as evenly as possible. Apply Black Cake Eyeliner using the #100 Round Liner Brush and load those lashes up with multiple coats of Volumizing Mascara. A soft nude lip is easily achieved using Natural Lip Pencil and a luscious coat of Shine Lip Gloss. Now all you have to do is pair this easy red carpet look with a couture evening gown and you’re ready to strut your stuff!
