7 Recommendations for a Flattering Mature Make-up Look

1. Skin tends to dry and wrinkle as we age, so don’t use too much powder when applying make-up to mature skin. Instead, use a moisturizer and/or Face Primer mixed with the base to thin it out so it doesn’t settle into the lines as much, and then lightly powder.
2. Choose a focus – either eyes or lips, but not both. If you are going for a sexy smoky eye, play down the lips with more neutral colors and with a just a hint of color.
3. If the fold of the eye is starting to droop, bring more attention to the lash line with a dark, soft edge eyeliner to add definition gracefully. Try Onyx Eye Color for an evening look, or for daytime I recommend Espresso or Graphite.
4. Warm colors tend to bring a subtle glow and life to the eyes and help to blend the edge of any darker or cooler colors. My favorites are Chamois and Sienna Eye Colors.
5. Eyebrows are very important but shouldn’t be too hard or harsh – just strong enough to create a frame for the eye. I use Taupe Eye Color on most women unless their hair color is extremely dark, light, or unusual – then I will add color as needed.
6. Lips usually need lip liner for definition, and should be the same or slightly darker than the lip color so it blends in naturally.
7. And lastly, Cheek Color can brighten and add a youthful glow as long as it is blended and not too bright or harsh.
