A Natural Smoky Eye Look for Daytime

I’ve been asked many times, “Can a smoky eye look work for daytime?” My response to that question is ABSOLUTELY! Anyone can create a soft smoky eye with a color that is a few shades darker than your natural skin tone. Shimmer or matte, this smoky eye is perfect for any daytime look.

Last weekend, at our free monthly workshops in LA and NY, we showed our participants how to create this Natural/Day Smoky Eye look. Here’s how:

In any eye color treatment, I prefer to start with a highlight. Use the #330S Shadow Fluff Brush to apply Bone Eye Color directly under the eyebrow with a light sweeping motion. After the highlight application is completed on both eyes, wipe off the excess color with a facial tissue. Load the tip of the #330S Brush with Chamois Eye Color, turn the brush on its side (flat side facing up and down) and place the brush into the crease of the outer corner of the eye. Work the color back and forth until you have your desired depth. With the #330S Brush, tap Spanish Gold Eye Color over the entire top lid. Connect the outer corner with the #810 Smudger Brush and Spanish Gold. Then follow the lower lash line to the tear duct. Blend the edges into the crease and lower lid with the #800S Crease Brush for a softer appearance. Complete the eye treatment with a generous coat of the Cream or Volumizing Mascara.

For an easy day-to-night transformation, use the Black Eye Pencil in the top and lower water line. Lightly build Espresso Eye Color on the outer lash line, both top and bottom, with the #810 Brush. Blend the Espresso into the Spanish Gold until you achieve your desired look. Finish with a light coat of Cream or Volumizing Mascara.
