In our free monthly smoky eye workshop at our LA and NY stores last weekend, we learned how to create a smoky eye look using a splash of dramatic color. The participants created two looks using a small palette of Eye Colors finished off with liners and mascara.

You too can recreate the looks we demonstrated using the tips below! Any color or any mood… what mood are you?

First Look:

Products used:
· 4-Hole Eye Color Palette with Bone, Dulce de Leche, Pomegranate, and Vineyard Eye Colors
· #210, #320, #350, #800, and #810 Brushes
· Black Eye Pencil
· Cream Mascara

For a sexy sultry eye, apply a highlight directly under the eye brow with the #320 Brush. For this particular look, mix a matte and shimmer Eye Color together, such as Bone and Dulce de Leche. Choose a medium to dark color for the top and bottom lid – in our demo, we used the Vineyard Eye Color on both. Start on the top outer corner of the lid and work your way to the inner corner with the #350 Brush, making sure to meet the crease of the eye. Use the #810 Brush to smudge the color, working from the outer bottom lid to the inner corner of the eye. In the crease, use the #800 Brush with an Eye Color 2-3 shades lighter, such as Pomegranate, to soften the edges with little circular movements. Use the same brush to soften the hard edge on the lower lash line using a back and forth motion, using your own discretion for how far down you want to blend out your eye color. For definition, apply the Black Eye Pencil to the waterline both top and bottom of the eye. To create a little more drama, use the Black Eye Pencil on the top and bottom lash line and smoke it outward with the #210 Brush. Finish with a coat of Cream Mascara.

Second Look:

Products used:
· Bone or Apricot, Sunset, Firebrick, Pomegranate, and Graphite Eye Colors
· #210 and #320 Brushes
· Black Cake Eyeliner
· Black Eye Pencil
· Volumizing Mascara

For a fun and colorful smoky eye, apply Bone or Apricot Eye Color directly under the eyebrow with the #320 Brush. Next, apply Firebrick Eye Color on the entire lid using the same brush. Build the color on the lid with a layer of Pomegranate Eye Color and blend upward and outward from the crease. Connect the top lid to the lower lash line with Pomegranate; drag the color from the lower outer lash line to the center of the eye. Apply Sunset Eye Color with the #320 Brush in the center of the top lid for dimension and blend over the entire lower lash line. If you like a smokier eye, use the Graphite Eye Color to define the crease of the eye and to build the color on the entire lower lash line. Use your own discretion for how far down you want to blend your eye color. To create drama and definition, apply the Black Cake Eyeliner with the #210 Brush to define the eye. Follow the eyeliner treatment with the Black Eye Pencil in the top and lower waterline of the eye. Complete your look with a couple of coats of Volumizing Mascara.
