And the Winner Is… (Best Face Forward Contest)

A big thanks to all of our YouTube subscribers that submitted videos to our Best Face Forward Contest! After a week of careful consideration, we have selected Geneva (@LipstickArsenal) for her submission entitled “Smokin' Aces.” As the winner of the contest, she will receive a $200 gift certificate to mudshop.com or for use in our MUD stores, plus a Pro Set of tools that includes our 3-N-1 Brush Belt, Set Bag, and brand new Professional Make-Up Case.

To enter the contest, the participants were asked to show us their “best face” as a natural, avant-garde, flawless beauty, or an original character look utilizing at least four MUD products. The MUD products Geneva selected to use in her winning entry are as follows:

-Glow Cheek Color
-#710s Brush

Based on our comprehensive criteria in judging this contest, Geneva’s entry had the highest score. We focused on all parts of the make-up application in order for us to decide on a winner: foundation/base application, cheek color and contouring, eyes/brows/liner/mascara, and lip treatment are all taken into consideration. Our judging panel included MUD Lead Make-Up Artists Sean Conklin and Reiva Cruze.

Geneva chose to do a classic smoky eye based on her favorite make-up artist, Scott Barnes, who has mastered this look accompanied by a nude lip. Her base application was well blended and effectively covered most of the imperfections of the skin. Geneva’s look had a very accurate perception of symmetry that showed when applying product to both the cheeks and eyes. She demonstrated an excellent ability to blend multiple powdered eye products evenly and smoothly. The brows were also very even and beautifully groomed, the lashes were well executed, and the liner was complementary to the eye treatment. Her final look was beautiful, soft, yet stunning – and very well blended.
