In this tutorial, I am going to show you how to choose complimentary eye colors to complement those rare and beautiful green eyes! I will do this by recreating the look I’ve created on my model Jordan.
Get this look:
Eye Color: Let’s start by prepping the eye with the Vintage Eye Pencil using the #810 Smudger Brush. By starting with this application, we are accomplishing two things; first to create a base shadow, and second to accent a darker color in the outer corner of the eye. Using very soft strokes, build the color on the eye. The Vintage Eye Pencil has a beautiful purple hue to it, which is very complimentary when working with green eyes. Continue moving the pencil back and forth between both eyes until the application is even.
In addition to the Vintage Eye Pencil, I have chosen a few complimentary colors that are great for green eyes. These colors are in the red family, which include violet and warm brown. So let’s warm up the eyes with a bit of the Vineyard Eye Color. Begin by lifting up the lid and with a stippling motion, apply the Vineyard Eye Color right on top of the Vintage Eye Pencil on the outer corner of the eye. This adds intensity and color to the eye. Remember not to go too far beyond the outer corner, but work to diffuse the edges and give it a nice soft look.
The next color we’re going to work with for this application is the Galaxy Eye Color. Use the #800 Crease Brush to apply this color on the lid, adding it right over top of the Vineyard Eye Color. I like to start close to the lash line and then work my way up into the crease, moving the brush back and forth along the line as I go.
The last color I have chosen to use for this look is the Cashmere Eye Color. Use the #320 Oval Shadow Brush for the Cashmere Eye Color applying it as a highlight on the inner part of the lid. Make sure that you apply the product softly to the eye.
Next, use the #210 Angle Liner Brush. I am using the same technique I used before with the Vintage Eye Pencil by applying the product to my brush and bringing it along the lower lash line for a drop shadow. Start at the outer corner of the lower lash line, and slowly work your way in toward the inner corner. Repeat this same step on the other eye.
Eye Lashes: Now it’s time for mascara. Use our famous squeezable Volumizing Mascara tube, by squeezing a little bit onto your pallet and applying it with the #500 Mascara Brush. I usually start with the top of the lashes and then go from the root all the way to the tip. I love using this brush for mascara because it gives me so much control over the product. You can also turn the brush on its side to reach the outside eyelashes on the outer corner of each eye. Make sure to be very gentle along the bottom because these lashes are a little bit finer and smaller. You want to be very careful not to touch the skin with the brush, but to separate the lashes as carefully as you can.
Jordan, our green-eyed model has beautiful and bright eyes but now their stunning color pops.
