It’s that time of year again! Halloween is rapidly approaching, and we want to hear your most creative, imaginative or downright weird costume ideas. Whether you’re dressing up as a celebrity or going for a look that’s simply ghoulish, we’re ready to be wowed, impressed and seriously creeped out!
What’s in it for you? If you win the contest, one of our leading professional artists will create a make-up application of your look in a live workshop at our Los Angeles and New York MUD shops. At the workshop we’ll stage a photo shoot to create a step-by-step tutorial that you can follow to create the look by yourself. You’ll also win a set of all the MUD products used to create your look – just in time for Halloween.
Here’s how it works:
• Submit your idea as a comment in response to this blog post. Please be sure to enter your email address in the comment form, so we can contact you if you win (don’t worry, this information is not public!)
• After the contest deadline on October 11th, our lead artists Reiva Cruze and Sean Conklin will choose the winner.
• The winner will be announced here, and the winning idea will be demonstrated in live workshops in Los Angeles and New York on October 15th, 2011.
Good luck, and happy haunting from the team at MUD!

Okay so what I get from this contest is that we need to give you guys an Idea of a costume
So what I had in mind was glamorous alien queen not only would she be beautiful to look at but also intimidating as well After all she is a queen of an alien civilization.
She would have vibrant colors like blues greens purples pinks and reds.
And to make it seems more like a queen glitter and rhinestones with a beautiful alien queen crown to finish it all up.
I hope u guys like this idea.

I think that the ghost or corpse of a jilted Bride would be a great concept to go after for halloween makeup.
This idea would allow for the application of bruises and a look of cold dead skin, but you could keep it glamourous since she’d have bridal makeup. You could even have her mascara run all the way down to the hem of the dress, as if she’d been weeping for years as she wandered the catacombs of some old castle, searching for her lost lover.
Beauty gone withered and cold. Isn’t that a scary thought?

To me, one thing that creeps me out in a fun way are half human/ half robots.
I think a beautiful cyborg/android chick would be an awesome look for Halloween.
I’d paint joints and bolts on her elbows and shoulders, give her very metallic eyeshadow and liner. The hair would be swept back into a functional updo, and she could wear just about anything that looks modern or futuristic.
I’d also paint a barcode on her neck and a battery cover with screws on her chest or back.
It would be a cute look, but to anyone like me who gets weirder out by humanoid robots, it could look creepy!

I am working on my costume as a mouse, and my husband as an elephant. A classic play on the old circus. And it’s a great excuse to bust out my grey uggs. (:

I actually had a few costumes ideas for Halloween…Having a hard time choosing which one!! Here they are…
1 - Marionette makeup look with a ragdoll type costume
2 - Mauled Circus Ring Master
3 - Mauled Little Red Riding Hood
4 - Zombie Bellhop (Male or Female)
All great ideas!! But how do you choose just one?!

I think you should do Poison Ivy from Batman but with lots of glitter you can have fiery leaves coming from her eyebrows then long flowing red hair n i mean bright red hair then you can have bright red lipstick but with some black on it to to make it more evil looking then you can have snow white skin but with really glowing blush to make her have that nice high cheek then we want her eye shadow also fiery red and a bit with a smokey eye look with sum jewels on the side of her eye and for her outfit you can have it made of plants and you want it to be short. Then maybe some contacts, green ones. Hope you like it;)
Liliana Ayala September 27, 2011 at 6:35 pm
Omg the snow queen is perfect you could do her pale skin with blue and black blush so it could just look intense and then do her eyebrows like as if she was frozen outside then put fake eyelashes with frozen water on them and then have white long hair styled with flipped hair and a crown of course:)and her outfit should be like white with crystals and look like a ballerina dress then have bright blue eyes too hope you love this
Vinita September 29, 2011 at 10:31 am
I’ve been dreaming of doing a Poison Ivy/sea siren mix of a look! i think Poison Ivy’s look is great as it is but mixed with aspects of the sea would be amazing!!! I just don’t know how to do that, lol. So hopefully you guys will pick me and be able to create something that exists only in my mind’s eye for now! =)

The Bride of Frankenstein. I’d like her to be beautiful but peiced together. I have this idea of stiches trisecting her face where one peice is a pretty green color with one colored eye. Then the other part of her face to be, say a more corpseish purple with a different colored eye maybe even a different size iris. Like those big doll eye lenses that are popular in Asia? And the third section to be yet another dead skin tone. Maybe even some stiches under her chin so it really looks like her face was “put on”. Yet I really want her to be etherally beautiful but freakishly so with both sides being able to stand on their own but be one.
Oh and the hair. Again a modern update to the black and white, maybe Asian inspired too but with dying flowers and twigs. I see her as a humpty dumpty marie antoinette doll-like beauty.

I have too many ideas to choose from!
1. zombie pin up/ stewardess: not too much on the gorey side though. Dark circles under the eyes, hallowed out cheeks, definitely a few battle wounds (slit neck?), but more along the lines of a fresh zombie. Maybe some victory rolls in the hair, except I have yet to master that haha
2. alex from clockwork orange: one eye done up with a set of top and bottom fake lashes and huge winged eyeliner (maybe a white or blue contact to make it super striking), the other eye just mascara. The bowler hat, cane, whitey tighteys with white suspenders, white under bust corset, a white button down shirt, some nude fishnets and some big ol’ combat boots.
3. hello kitty: big red hair bow, white fuzzy ears, white/red dress and some red heels. I was thinking red lips, winged eyeliner, little whiskers and a nose. I havnt played arund with this one too much I just love hello kitty

YAY FOR HALLOWEEN!!!!!!
I’m thinking a sugar skull! This can be fun for a guy or gal to do. I would want this look to be very elegant, swift, quick and precise. Something easy for all ages to be able to do =)
Samantha Valdez October 3, 2011 at 12:20 pm
ok so im gonna do a brilliant zombie makeup meets the chupacabra…its gonna be nothing that no one’s ever seen before and whats great about my concept is im gonna create this look with just tissue, elmers glue, and a few other tricks up sleeve. So its something affordable that anyone can achieve…its gonna be pretty badass so you best give me the chance =]
Sam Verna October 4, 2011 at 10:32 am
I’m thinking about a sexy scarecrow, almost like the scarecrow’s (from Wizard of Oz) wife, except with a sultry dark aspect. I was thinking really intense, alluring eye makeup with either patches or scars or like strips of hay on the side of the face.
Kayla Lafi October 4, 2011 at 10:39 am
i am thinking a snow fairy princess. i want it to be cute but the makeup should be easy for anybody to do but very creative. I am thinking crystals lining her left side of the face, her eyelahses should be frosty and her eyebrows as well. Her lips should be nude. The eyeshadow should have hues purple, and pinks. Blue liner just rimming the eyes. The eyelashes should be long. The face makeup should be matte and have some shimmering pink blush.

A hello kitty giesha girl!
Amy Vuong October 4, 2011 at 1:23 pm
I’ve had this idea in my head for 2 years now and I am finally going to do it this year! I will achieve my look as MYSTIQUE from X-men! Liquid latex, blue blue and lots more blue! Blue paint and airbrush, and awesome contacts to complete the look!
Liliana Ayala October 4, 2011 at 6:27 pm
A Dark Angel you could have pale skin with black glossy lipstick and with really dark blush to make the cheek bones look scrawny then have contacts that make the entire eyes black. Then have black eye shadow going all around her eye kind of have it sparky at the end of the eye. the you want to add some really thick eyelashes and have the end of the eyelashes winged really far and have her bottom eyelashes long too like about and inch long.Oh n her eyebrows should be black but kinda of faded like as if she had no eyebrows.
Tianna pacheco October 5, 2011 at 7:41 pm
I am really excited for this years Halloween costume its the best idea yet to come my way, I come from a traditional Mexican family and my take is an undead Day of the Dead woman with a gooley skeletal face with deep black outline of her bone structure yet a colorful eyelids with like green blues and purple and long lashes and red toned lips and her nose would look very skeletal too. With dingy grey and black pulled up hair
Just my ideas **
Liliana Ayala October 6, 2011 at 11:26 am
Omg you could do a peacock!peacock is really trendy right now:) you can start with a dark blue, light blue, green and a bit of orange eye shadow then do the eyelashes with peacock plumage and the bottom eyelashes have plumage just don’t show the part that has eyes just the plumage. and have the eyebrows with green feathers like the peacock then have gold lip gloss with some blue diamonds on the middle of the lips. You can also have blue contacts. And you can have the hair with peacock feathers:) oh and as for blush have a bronzed color with sum gold:)hope you like this idea.

Gabrielle Madrigal October 10, 2011 at 6:02 pm
i will be Bellatrix Lestrange for Halloween. i am wearing a black dress and lace over dress. black boots and a cape/robe over it. my hair is already curly so it wont be hard to create her crazy pinned back curls.
Vanessa Juarez October 11, 2011 at 10:59 am
So I have 3 ideas
-a female version of the mad hatter from alice&wonderland;
but a more creepier ovongaurd look:)
-a live version of Tim Burtons ‘the corpse Bride’
-a zombie fairy:]
Chelsea Reda October 11, 2011 at 11:14 am
I was watching Ghostbusters on TV last week and thought possessed Sigourney Weaver would make a great Halloweeen costume! Her skin is so luminous with great highlights and shadows. Now I just have to find that orange dress…
Danielle Bullis October 11, 2011 at 11:24 am
Pop Zombie! A pop-star who was bitten and turned zombie!
I think this idea could be fun because you can give her cute trendy clothing, hair, and makeup, and then mess it all up with a classic zombie makeover.
This would be my pick as a fun costume because it’s ghoulish while still allowing you to rock your favorite pair of heels or any other fun fall accessories you want to show off.
Tiara October 11, 2011 at 12:07 pm
My costume idea is a flesh eating show girl I would really love to learn how to do the make up glamorous but with a twist like blood all over my mouth from eating someone alive
Staci Bender October 11, 2011 at 12:11 pm
I am being a peacock and would love to see make-up tips!
Lizzie Romano October 11, 2011 at 12:36 pm
My idea would be a Terminator Cyborg Chic. You could have the ripped flesh exposing the metal interiors with all the details (nuts, bolts, overlaid metal) combined with a feminine photo shoot ready look (big full eyelashes, red lips, curled hair, defined eyeshadow lines). Just like Arnold Schwarzenegger, everything but the cyborg interior will be “perfect” down to every hair sprayed into place, but underneath the torn flesh a systematic, robotic, interface.
Haley Johnson October 11, 2011 at 3:34 pm
I would just like to see a really good steam punk design, I have yet to see one I really like
Rebecca Ralph- Farella October 11, 2011 at 10:14 pm
This year I’m dressing as Mother Goose .... the morphing of part woman part goose. I think its always interesting taking a basic or traditional idea and putting a twin on it.
sam valdez October 13, 2011 at 10:11 am

I would just love to be able to do kick-ass Harley Quinn makeup. I’m very intrigued by her makeup in Arkham Asylum as well as Arkham City. It’s just amazing and to recapture that on my face would give me a WOW factor this Halloween. To be honest my boyfriend is going to be the Joker so makeup for him as the Joker would be a total bonus! How awesome would that be! Killer awesome…: ) hope I win so we could be a happy goulish couple this Halloween. Happy winning everyone
