Last weekend at our free monthly workshops in both NY and LA, we demonstrated how you can achieve your own "Mauled Little Red Riding Hood", this look came from Jennifer Paulo, our Ghoul School Winner. Just in case you missed the workshops, we will share with you the step-by-step tips on how to achieve it!
Begin with a clean, toned and moisturized face. To prep the face for a make-up application, apply and even coat of the Face Primer.
Face: Start with an even canvas. For a sheer or full coverage, try MUD’s Cream Foundation on the entire face. Apply the foundation with a MUD Professional Make-up Sponge, #940 Foundation Brush, or your fingertips. Tip: Blend down the neck to prevent any demarcations. For warmth, apply the Glow Cheek Color on the center of the cheekbones with #710s Powder Blush Brush. Lay the tip of the brush near the top of the ear and in circular motions drag the brush down to the lower end of the cheekbone. To add dimension to the forehead area, lightly dust the Glow from the hairline about half way down. Feather the Cheek Color as you move down the forehead area. For a subtle jaw line definition, apply the Glow with Brush #710s directly below the jaw line and brush upward to create a soft edge. Next, lightly dust the cheek color downward for a soft warm shadow.
Eyes: Use the Honeysuckle Eye Color as a highlight on the brow bone with #800s Crease Brush. Next, dust the Pixie Eye Color on the entire lid with Brush #800s. To add dimension to the eye area, try the Taupe Eye Color in the crease of the top lid. Begin on the outer corner of the eye and blend the Taupe inward following the crease. With the same brush, apply the Taupe to the lower lash line. Use the Espresso Eye Color to deepen the outer corner of the top and lower lid with #810 Smudger Brush. Coat the lashes with MUD’s Cream or Volumizing Mascara. For more drama, wear your favorite strip lashes. Tip: Apply the Duo Adhesive to the strip and let the adhesive air for 20 seconds before application.
Lips: Line and color your entire lips with the Natural Lip Pencil. With #310s Lip Brush, sweep the Cantaloupe Lip Glaze.
Bite and claw marks with MUD’s Character/FX Palette, Thick Blood and Reel Blood: First, think of how the injury happened. In this make-up application, I chose to create injuries that happened head on. I chose the left cheek for the four claw marks and the right area of the neck for the bite. Below the outer corner of the eye, map out the illusion of the swollen raised area of the skin from the longest claw mark with the White Character Color with brush #210s Angle Liner Brush. Make sure to keep the top and lower ends of the claw marks tapered. Drag the brush downward at a 45-degree slope to the jaw line. Map out two other shorter claw marks, one in front and one behind with a half an inch space in between. The final claw mark should be even shorter and placed closer to the ear. With #330s Shadow Fluff Brush and alcohol, feather out the White Character Color into the area outside of the injury. Leave the inside of the injuries clean. Use the same color and brush to create your bite. Keep in mind the size of a werewolf bite for realism. Don’t forget to feather out the White color onto the skin. Tip: In areas inside of the bite that may be closer to the surface of the skin, use a small amount of the White. When it’s time for the blood application, it will create a great effect. Clean the #210s Brush for the next step. Use the Red Character/FX Color to paint the inside area of the injuries. For depth inside the injuries, use the Maroon Character/FX Color with Brush #210s. For the deepest area of the injuries, use the Black Character/FX Color. Use a Stainless Steel Palette Knife to apply the Thick Blood in random places within the injuries for dimension and texture. Finally, add the Reel Blood with #310s Lip Brush. The more blood the better!
