Make-Up Designory Announces 2011 Dates!

We are happy to announce our program and course offerings for 2011! 2010 was an exciting year for MUD as we introduced our new courses and programs. After a year of “teaching-out” our previous curriculum and implementing the 2010 changes, we are finally 100% segued into the new programs and courses.
One of our very popular changes has been that students and teachers now enjoy an hour of workshop at the end of each class day. Classes now end at 4:00 pm, and between 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm workshops are offered with teachers dedicated to assisting students on both campuses each day. This allows for students to get extra assistance, complete missing test and assignments, and make up any time they may need to satisfy their academic progress. On any given school day, a classroom of students can be found after hours working on projects, exchanging ideas with peers and teachers, or sitting as models for their friends. The environment has been described as light and fun and everyone is enjoying the extra time to work and get ahead.
We have also found that prospective students are interested in taking programs now more than ever! With our new programmatic setup we have shown that their success is dependent upon the building of their knowledge base that they take from one class and bring into another to make them convergent thinkers and well-rounded artists. So if you are interested in enrolling, make sure you contact us fast! Space is limited all-around!
In 2011, we haven’t made any substantial changes to our curriculum; however, there are some new policy changes that enrolling students should be aware of. We now have a printed policy and information on how students with disabilities can go about requesting academic adjustments and auxiliary aids as per the Americans with Disabilities Act. We have adjusted the minimum student attendance to be in-line with Federal Aid guidelines. Additionally, we have modified some of our enrollment requirements. Prospective students or students enrolling in 2011 should make sure they read through the 2011 catalog for Los Angeles or New York so they are familiar with these changes.
2011 is going to be another exciting year at MUD and we hope that you will be a part of it! For more information on our courses or programs or any exciting new changes, please contact our Admissions Department. In Los Angeles, they can be reached at 818-729-9420 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and in New York at 212-925-9250 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). We look forward to hearing from you!

Hello Make-Up Designory/ Liz T,
I have tried to contact the financial aid department, Maggie Smith’s email address and .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and I received a mail errors for both. Maybe you can help me answer my questions?:
I applied for FAFSA, but I am unable to apply for TAP because your school is not listed with them. I am currently unemployed and want to know if it is possible to stop by the office to discuss my options? Also, is there is a fee waiver to apply to the school? Do you have an Open House I can attend to help me decide if the school is a good fit for me?
I have a BA degree, but I desire a career change. I have practice doing my own makeup for photo shoots, but not much practice on others. I am currently looking for opportunities to do that. I want to be an expert and I believe your school can help me with that.
Thank you for taking the time to read my note.

Please also feel free to call if you would like to speak with someone over the phone. The NY Financial Aid department number is 212-925-9250 ext. 2204.

Hi Agustina,
Thank you for considering Make-Up Designory in the short time that you are here in the US.
Unfortunately, we no longer offer Airbrush as a separate course, it is now included in our Beauty 101 course. As for other short courses, you are welcome to download our catalog on mud.edu (click on “download catalog” in the upper right corner). In it you will find some individual course schedule and tuition information but I think they will be just a little bit longer than your stay in the US – you may miss the last part of the class depending on which class you want to take.
At the very least, there are always the free workshops that we offer at the MUD Shop every first and third Saturdays of each month.
Good luck! If you would like to speak to someone, please feel free to e-mail .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or call 212-925-9250.
Best regards,

Brie December 16, 2010 at 6:39 pm
I just have a couple of questions about enrolling and buying all of the items for my kit. I want to enroll for January and I’m in the process of re-submitting my fafsa. Can some of the supplies be purchased in beauty stores or does it all have to come from the MUD shop? Also as someone who is going to attend is everything from the shop at a discount?
Make-Up Designory January 3, 2011 at 6:27 pm
Hi Brie,
There is a list of supplies online that you need for your classes at http://supplies.mud.edu/. You can buy the items elsewhere but buying them from the MUD Shop will guarantee that you have the correct items necessary for your classes. Yes, all student supplies are discounted at the time of purchase.
Thanks for your question and good luck!

Sara Malam January 11, 2011 at 6:10 am
I have a fairly simple question, it might be long winded though.
I do not have My GED or HS diploma, however I really want to attend MUD in LA, I Cannot however afford to pay for it at all, is it possible for me to get financial aid to attend classes? I want to go very badly but I am very confused by the whole thing, does anyone have any answers?
Make-Up Designory January 12, 2011 at 3:07 pm
Hi Sara,
Many people are in the same boat but there are many ways you can pay for or at least subsidize part of your tuition. We do have three programs that are eligible for financial aid – Film/Television, Multimedia, and Master. Once you start the enrollment process you will fill out a FAFSA form to see how much federal aid you are eligible for. Our financial aid advisors can help you with this process.
Another way people can help alleviate the cost of tuition is to find scholarships. We accept any outside scholarships, but you have to find them and apply for them on your own. There are many resources online and even at your local public library.
We do require that students have a GED or high school diploma though. If you can obtain your GED it will be better for you in the long run as well.
Thanks for your interest in our school and if you have any additional questions you are always welcome to call or e-mail us directly at 818-729-9420 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
Good luck!

Diana August 31, 2011 at 4:49 am
Hello my name is Diana and I will be graduating from high school this upcoming June I’m interested in your school but I noticed on the application that it says experience, do I have to have experience in make-up artistry in order to attend this school ? Also, am I limited to which courses I can take if I have financial aid ?
Make-Up Designory September 2, 2011 at 1:42 pm
Hi Diana,
Thank you for your interest! We don’t require any past experience to enroll in our school. There are probably a few skills you already have experience in, like applying mascara or eyeliner and shaping eyebrows. In your application just list any experience you’ve had so far.
There aren’t any restrictions to the types of classes you can take if you have financial aid but we do have three programs that are eligible for financial aid – Film/Television, Multimedia, and Master. Once you begin your enrollment process you can work with a financial aid advisor and the first step would be filling out the FAFSA online at FAFSA.ed.gov to find out what you qualify for. And please feel free to contact our Financial Aid staff through finaid.mud.edu if you have more questions.
