As the Housing Coordinator for the Los Angeles Campus, it is my job to help students traveling from outside Southern California to make an easy transition to Los Angeles. In order to assist students with this goal, Make-Up Designory (MUD) maintains student housing as an option for those who are attending our Los Angeles campus.

MUD’s student housing is located at the recently renovated Avalon Burbank Apartments, located just across the street from the school. These elegant apartment homes feature gourmet kitchens with granite counters, black appliances, and new cabinetry. Each unit also has a washer and dryer. In addition, students can enjoy the Olympic-sized swimming pool, BBQ areas, and work out in the 24-hour fitness center that features cardio and weight training rooms.

All units are dorm-style shared units, and are on a first come first served basis. Don’t miss out on living in this great community – so conveniently close to MUD!

For questions, additional information, or to make a student housing reservation, please contact me directly at the Los Angeles campus at 1-818-729-9420 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

I been checking out the school and I really like it. I had a few questions about the housing.
How many beds are in a bedroom?

How many bathrooms?

What about safety of personal belongings?

Thanks

Student Housing June 17, 2010 at 12:57 pm

Hi Ashley,

I’m so glad to hear of your interest in MUD Student Housing.  Here are some basic details:

The apartment complex is located across the street from the school and is within close walking distance to a grocery store, a movie theatre, a mall, and many restaurants and boutiques.

All of our apartments come fully furnished with basic housewares and utilities included.  Depending on availability, we have 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom units with a loft (for our female students), and these will house up to 5 students.  Each bedroom has two beds, and the loft has one bed.  We also have a 1 bedroom 1 bath unit which houses 2 male students.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully making housing arrangements in the future.

You can find photos of the apartments at: myspace.com/mudhousing

Regards,
Brandy Maynard

Rosa December 26, 2010 at 9:44 am

Do you know if there is available housing for the summer of 2012? I plan on starting school at MUD. When is too early to reserve a room? Are there any other fees besides the $900 a month?

Make-Up Designory January 3, 2011 at 6:23 pm

Hi Rosa,

Most likely there is available housing for 2012 since we haven’t yet announced the schedule for 2012 (i.e. we haven’t enrolled many students for 2012 yet) smile But you are on the right track and it’s great that you’re thinking ahead since it’s first come, first served.

Please feel free to contact Brandy Maynard, our Student Housing Coordinator, to reserve your spot and to go over the specifics. You can e-mail .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or call 818.729.9420.

Thanks for your question and good luck!

Kristie February 15, 2011 at 10:13 pm

do you have financial assistance for housing and any family housing for students with a child?

Make-Up Designory February 17, 2011 at 10:43 am

Hi Kristie,

Yes, in general there is financial aid available for three of our programs – Film and Television, Multimedia and Master. Depending on what you qualify for, there are also loan options which can help cover any part of your tuition, supplies and housing that financial aid does not cover. Please feel free to contact our Financial Aid office to learn more: 818.729.9420 ext. 2023.

We do not have campus housing for students with children, unfortunately. There is a list of off-campus housing resources in our catalog though (you can download at mud.edu), and finding affordable housing in the general area isn’t difficult.

Thanks for your interest and good luck!

Sara March 23, 2011 at 6:58 am

Hi there,
I’m really interested in MUD and these accomodations. I’m from Italy and it’s very important to me, having a place to stay and share with other people! As Rosa, I’m looking for the next year 2012.. probably April. So I’d like to know what to do to reserve a place in your building, while in the meantime I dedicate myself to the admission procedure. Or is it something that I have to do only after admission? I’m afraid that there won’t be a bed for me, and I wouldn’t know how to do, because I come from far away…
Please.. let me know! I’m thinking to became a make-up artist seriously.. smile Have a nice day!

Make-Up Designory March 24, 2011 at 5:01 pm

Hi Sara,

We’re glad to hear that you are attending MUD in 2012. You can apply for housing during the enrollment process but if you are worried about limited availability you can speak to our housing coordinator by e-mailing .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Thanks for your interest and good luck!

i was wondering if you still have rooms available for 2012 im thinking of starting from march- july

Lily August 24, 2011 at 8:07 pm

So I’m seriously dedicated to coming to this school in 2012 and hopefully plan on living on the housing you guys have but the cost is $900 per student? so that means that even though there could be 5 students in one apartment they each have to pay $900? And if so is there any other apartments you can recommend me on living besides there?

Make-Up Designory August 30, 2011 at 3:51 pm

Hi Lily,
Great question. As listed in our LA 2011 School Catalogue, MUD Student Housing is a great choice based on proximity to the school. Some additional suggestions include Westide Rentals (westsiderentals.com); The Royal Equestrian (royalequestrianapts.com); Rancho Los Feliz; and The Avalon at Media Center Apartments (avaloncommunities.com). As always, feel free to contact our student housing coordinator at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Thanks!

Hi there, I couldn’t help but notice that you told Rosa that there is only financial aid offered for the three programs. Does that mean that the Fashion Make-up program isn’t included in that? What if I have a grant or federal financial aid saved? does that apply towards the schooling for the fashion make up program/housing at all? Thanks!!
