At MUD, we believe that everyone deserves a beautiful future. Whether we are collecting gifts for homeless women and children or adopting a family through the Salvation Army, MUD Cares about making a personal difference in the everyday lives of people in need. This is why we are proud to collaborate with organizations like NextAid to create our special, limited edition MUD Cares Palette of Eye Colors. These palettes make a great holiday gift – and are helping to benefit orphaned children in Africa who have lost their parents due to the AIDS epidemic.

According to UNAIDS 2008 estimates, an African child loses a parent to AIDS every 14 seconds, and every day more than 6,000 young Africans aged 15-24 acquire the HIV virus. AIDS has devastated the African continent for more than two decades, yet only 10% of the 15 million children orphaned by the disease are receiving any kind of public support. NextAid is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making a tangible difference in the lives of African children in need by implementing and advancing sustainable solutions. Through music events and public education initiatives, this Los Angeles-based humanitarian organization links leading artists, musicians and the global community with some of the most impoverished and vulnerable children on the planet. The goals? To raise awareness about the challenges these children face – and to establish lasting, positive change.

Artists and DJs can support NextAid by participating in benefit concerts and events. MUD is there to help. This year, we donated a photographer, make-up artists and a photo studio, to create a photo shoot that promotes four featured NextAid artists: DJ Colette, Eve Falcon, DJ Rap and Samantha James. MUD make-up artists are volunteering to do make-up for the leading DJs, comedians, dancers and musicians performing at NextAid’s World AIDS Day Event on December 1st, 2009 at Marrakesh House in Culver City, California. This benefit will raise funds for NextAid humanitarian projects in Kenya and South Africa.

This holiday season, you can help make a difference too – by purchasing a MUD Cares Palette of Eye Colors. These rich, earthy Eye Colors were hand-selected by members of NextAid to bring out the natural beauty of every skin tone. What’s beautiful about them? When you purchase one of these palettes, 100% of the proceeds go toward building a safe and sustainable home for a group of children. With only a few palettes left, we have almost met our goal. Please help us make a tangible difference in the lives of children in need. And remember – looking good never felt so great.
