Make-Up Designory (MUD) is excited to announce our class schedule for 2010. Changes have been made within classes and to programs so as to better meet the demands of the make-up industry.

The biggest change that has been made across the board is that the school day has gone from an 8 hour day to a 7 hour day (4 hours to 3.5 hours for evening classes). Classes will be held between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm (6:00 pm to 9:30 pm for evening classes) but the teachers will remain on campus until 5:00 pm to give students any extra attention they may need. This will also make it easier for students to make up missed assignments and time while they are currently in class rather than once they have completed class.

We have adjusted the names of all of our classes to reflect the natural progression of the coursework and be more representative of each curriculum. Our “Beauty Make-Up Artistry” class has become “Beauty 101: Fundamentals of Beauty Make-Up Artistry;” “Studio Hairstyling” has become “Beauty 201: Studio Hairstyling for the Make-Up Artist;” and “Portfolio Development” has become “Beauty 301: Beauty Lab.” The “Character Make-Up Artistry” class will now be “Special Make-Up Effects 201: Character Make-Up Artistry” and “Special Make-Up Effects” will be “Special Make-Up Effects 301: Lab Techniques”.

While all of the courses have undergone some changes, the two classes that have had the most changes to the curriculum are Beauty 101 and Special Make-Up Effects 301. The Beauty 101 course will now be 6 weeks long (12 weeks for evening classes), as will Special Make-Up Effects 301. In addition to some smaller units that have been added to the curriculum by the recommendation of our Professional Advisory Committee, Beauty 101 will offer an introduction to the use of an airbrush and teach beauty make-up artistry techniques with an airbrush.

Special Make-up Effects 301 has been modified to more accurately represent the skills needed by the make-up artist within the entertainment industry. With so much being done by computers in the movies and on television, make-up artists need to take a different approach to their work. The Special Effects 301 course will teach the student those techniques. Additionally, the changes to the curriculum will make it logistically possible for us to offer this class on the New York Campus!

We have also made some changes to the programs. The “Journeyman Make-up Artistry” program has become the “Film and Television Make-Up Artistry” program. This program will now be 18 weeks long and consist of Beauty 101 and Special Make-Up Effects 201 and 301. As the name suggests, this program will prepare the student for work specifically in the film and television industry. Our “Make-Up Artistry II” program will now be called the “Multimedia Make-Up Artistry” program. This program will give a broad base of knowledge to the student who would like to gain work in all aspects of the field of make-up artistry. This program will be comprised of Beauty 101, 201, 301 and Special Make-Up Effects 201. What used to be our “Make-Up Artistry III” program will now be our “Master Make-Up Artistry” program. This program is comprised of all five of our signature courses, Beauty 101, 201 and 301 and Special Make-up Effects 201 and 301. The education from these five courses will prepare the student for mastery of all aspects of their chosen profession. “Fashion Make-Up Artistry” will remain essentially the same, but the additional two weeks of the Beauty 101 course will effect its overall length. All programs will be available at both the Los Angeles and New York campuses.

Please visit our school website for Los Angeles or New York Campus program and course descriptions and dates.

I read your post on our blog, and unfortunately, I only speak English.  I tried to translate what you have written online and I think you are asking about cost and course information.  I am hoping that you will be able to respond to me in English and we can get your questions answered!

Let me know!

Thanks,
Liz Hope
