MUD and Powder Group Announce Winner of Kelly Gleason Scholarship for the Makeup Arts

The Powder Group and Make-Up Designory are pleased to announce the winner of the The Kelly Gleason Scholarship for the Makeup Arts 2010!

The recipient of a $10,000 scholarship toward programs at Make-Up Designory is...
Brett Dorrian from St. Paul, MN!

Brett's submission was chosen from more than 140 submissions from applicants from the U.S., Canada and seven other countries!

Brett plans to use the scholarship toward enrolling in the Fashion Make-Up Artistry Program at the Make-Up Designory NY campus for September-December 2011 and then will attend the LA campus for Special Make-Up Effects 201 and 301 for January-March 2012. Brett's efforts will reward her with a Master Make-up Artistry Program diploma from MUD at the end of her programs.

How was the winner chosen?
Submissions were reviewed by a panel of industry experts, union members, educators and of course The Powder Group team. Entries were scored on the following points, with the highest grand total of all scores for an entry determining the winner.

Leadership Potential - does the applicant come across as driven to move our craft forward?

Community Spirit - does the applicant have an understanding of, and an excitement for the industry?

Clarity of Purpose - does the applicant clearly state why they wish to become a pro make-up artist?

Passion for the Craft - is there a clear connection to the art and craft of make-up application?

Drive for the Career - is there an understanding of, and interest in, the business of make-up artistry?

Artistic Integrity - is there an artistic passion that drives the applicant's interest in make-up artistry?

All entries were rendered anonymous and given numbers coinciding to their entry for the purposes of providing a completely unbiased process at every level.
