A home is a beautiful thing.
As you may know, in 2009 MUD Cares teamed up with nonprofit organizations NextAid and Red Rhino, to help house and educate orphaned children in Africa who have lost their parents due to the AIDS epidemic. After selling all of our limited edition MUD Cares Palettes of Eye Colors, we donated 100% of the proceeds toward building a children’s home, constructed by the Red Rhino Orphanage Project in Kenya.
In 2010, construction of the Red Rhino Children’s Center was completed, and we are proud to announce that sixteen children are now residing in a safe, nurturing home. Greg Traverso from the Red Rhino Orphanage Project describes the property in a recent letter to MUD: “The home…is extremely well built and suited for the kids to grow and prosper. There are four bedrooms each with two sets of bunk beds, a bedroom for the housemother, a reading/study room that works very well to give the kids a place to concentrate on their studies, and a toilet block and attached shower. One of my own favorite aspects of the house is the porch, which will have chairs and benches for the kids to sit on…with sweeping views of the savannah grasslands. Occasionally one can see zebra, giraffe, and other animals from that porch.”
We would like to thank all of the hard-working volunteers at NextAid and Red Rhino, our friends and MUD Cares collaborators, and each and every one of you who purchased our MUD Cares limited edition palettes for helping to make this happen.
