MUD NYC Hosts CitizenGlam Event

Tomorrow, October 5th MUD NYC is hosting CitizenGlam, one of the first intitiatives of Legacy Connect. Legacy Connect is on a mission to reinvent philanthropy for the Internet Generation. Founded by a fourth generation Rockefeller, Legacy is backed by existing and former CEOs of movie studios, television networks, talent agencies and sports teams.

The American Cancer Society (ACS) created the Hope Lodge program to provide patients and their caregivers with shelter and support. A "home away from home", the 31 Hope Lodges provide free accommodations to individuals who could not otherwise afford to relocate near the best hospitals.

The October 5th event incorporates YouTube makeup celebrities Leesha (aka Xsparkage) and ItsJudyTime as well as MUD Alumni performing empowering makeovers on ten of the women currently staying at Hope Lodge NYC and Ronald McDonald House. These mini makeovers will be filmed and subsequently distributed on the celebrity's YouTube channels, as well as the Legacy Connect Platform from October 17th – October 31st. The filmed sessions will conclude with an appeal from the YouTube celebrity to their fans to donate online to extend the makeover program to more than 150 cancer patients. The Laurance S. Rockerfeller Foundation has agreed to match all consumer donations and cosmetics brand/distributor, Townley, will be providing gift bags for participants and gift baskets for select donors. Operation Bling is another partner foundation that is looking to “Bling” participants with 3-4 pieces of jewelry after their makeover. MUD NYC has donated space and MUD students will be performing over a dozen makeovers as well.
