MUD retailer Robert Hudson is the founder and owner of a thriving make-up artist’s studio in New Orleans, Louisiana. Founded in 2004—less than ten months after Hurricane Katrina—Mr. Hudson and his team provide a full range of services, including make-up application, make-up lessons, brow shaping and training for other professional make-up artists.

An accomplished professional artist, Mr. Hudson’s work has been featured in Vogue, Women’s Wear Daily, Spin and Atlanta magazines, as well as on national and local television. He has worked with celebrities that include Jennifer Coolidge, Yoko Ono, Al Green, Lauren Hutton, Lil Kim, Dr. Ruth Westheimer, John Goodman and Mary Tyler Moore, among others.

Robert describes his business: "We are not a store… we are a studio that sells products. We sell things we love, that have been hand picked for their quality. Our main focus is on make-up as an art form." He enjoys working with customers who range from their early teens to 80s. "My specialty is helping women realize that they too can be beautiful," he says. "New Orleans women are very make-up savvy. They like a classic look, but still watch the trends. This is New Orleans, so I do get men for drag make-up [too]."
