Pro Tips for the Perfect Eyebrows

When grooming eyebrows in a professional setting, first always make sure the talent is comfortable with you tweezing strays and/or shaping. Someone may have a personal professional that they go to regularly and want to refrain from letting anyone else interfere. Always ask their permission first, and be sure to get their verbal consent. When your subject first sits in your chair, make sure to analyze their face including any necessary grooming that may be needed. Grooming and skin prep should be done prior to make-up application so that there is time for any redness to calm down and to give you a clean palette to create your magic.

Once tweezed and groomed, the overall look of the eyebrow can be enhanced with either MUD Eye Pencils or Eye Colors. Unless you are trying to achieve a harder period look of the 1920’s or 30’s, softer is more attractive and romantic. A softer, more natural look can be achieved by using two colors or products rather than one. I find that the MUD Taupe Eye Color can be used on almost any eyebrow with natural results – you can always add more dimension with Sienna or Chamois for redheads and Espresso for brunettes. The only exception is someone with extremely pale blonde hair. For dark hair, I rarely choose to create black eyebrows since it can appear too harsh, so I usually start with Graphite Eye Color and add a little Onyx as needed to soften the look.
