Pro Tips for Proper Brush Care

Make-up brushes need regular cleaning to preserve their quality and shape. When using a professional brush cleaner, first wipe any excess product off your brush onto a paper towel. Next, dip the brush bristles into a small amount of brush cleaner, and then wipe on the towel again. Repeat until no more product residue is visible on the towel. Lastly, wipe bristles thoroughly on a towel to absorb and eliminate any excess conditioner. It is important to wipe the brush bristles carefully as scrubbing can lead to a frayed, unusable brush with knots and tangles. Do not leave brushes soaking in the brush cleaner as the bristles can lose their shape. Additionally, some brush cleaners can begin to dissolve the bristles if left in long enough.
Brushes can also be washed with a gentle liquid soap or shampoo such as baby shampoo and water for a more thorough cleansing. To dry the brush, reshape the bristles after the last rinse and lay them on a counter or table with the bristles extending over the edge to dry. Natural air circulation will encourage quicker drying and avoid any musty smells.

I think this is key! I can’t tell you what a fuss I make over my brushes. I use an antibacterial spray between uses as well. I want my clients to know (on set/private/etc) that when I use my brushes, they’re clean! Thanks for this-
