If you are one of many students who need help completing the FAFSA online, you are not alone. It can be a bit daunting if you are new to the FAFSA world. The questions can be confusing at times, and the process can be frustrating, but don’t be discouraged! Help is there for you in many ways. So here are a few tips…
The first resource for questions is the Federal Student Aid Information Center, which can be reached at 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243). This call center should be able to assist you with any questions you may have, and agents have the ability to walk you through the online FAFSA application if needed. They also have a cool tool to help you while you’re online – just click on the “LIVE HELP” link to begin an online chat.
Another way to obtain more detailed information is to visit the FAFSA website at fafsa.ed.gov. They have tons of information regarding everything FAFSA. Make sure to educate yourself a bit about the FAFSA before you actually begin the application process – take a look at the FAQ’s and worksheets that they have provided to get you started. These pages will advise you on what documents and paperwork that you’ll need to have in front of you when you begin the application process.
If you do begin the application and you find yourself stuck, save your application and come back to it when you have the answers you need to complete it. It is always best to have your FAFSA completed correctly before you submit it. And, as always if you have any questions you know where I am! On my next blog entry, I’ll talk about the in’s and out’s of private loans.
Until next time,
