The wait is over! The International Make-up Artist Trade Show (IMATS) in New York is being held at a prime location in SoHo on April 9-10. International students and grads apply in hopes that they are accepted to participate in the make-up artistry competition in Beauty or Character Prosthetics. To meet the requirements of the Beauty or Character competition, each student or grad must submit 8-10 images of quality make-up and a biography, and he or she must be a graduate within the last year prior to the competition.
Once accepted, the competitors are notified via email one month before the show. During the Beauty competition, the artist is judged on the overall character, the use of color theory and technical ability. For the Character Prosthetic competition, the artist is judged by their overall concept of their character, the edges of their prosthetics and of course, their painting skills.
All competitors receive the gift of industry recognition and the awards for placing are amazing! Undisclosed cash prizes, product and a cover or tear sheet in the well-known Make-up Artist Magazine.
Good luck and congratulations to our very own LA grads, Ivette Hermann, Nathan Hejl, and NY student Ellen Guhin.
